DESCRIPTION: Lobe only lungs are packaged with the lobes separated from each other. The trachea is removed from the point it splits into the bronchial tubes. There should be no trimmable fat on a lobe only lung. The yield for lobe only lungs is 3.50 pounds per 1000 pounds of live weight.
PACKAGING: Lobe only lungs should be packed in a box designed specifically for lung production. The box measures 23-1/2" x 18-3/8" x 6-15/16" and holds 50 pounds of product. The box side is stenciled "Beef Lungs -- Not Intended For Human Food". The carton top must be securely strapped in place.
CUSTOMER BASE: Lobe only lungs are used by pet food manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies throughout the United States and Europe.
CUSTOMER UTILIZATION: Used mainly as a pet food ingredient, but they are also used pharmaceutically in the production of heparin, which is used in the prevention of blood clots.
